Who is Bitfusion?

Today, CPUs are not sufficiently addressing new workloads such as machine learning and AI, whereas GPUs and FPGAs are taking a larger share of the evolving Data Center, leaving businesses with challenges when incorporating AI into their business model. Bitfusion created the industry’s first elastic and virtual OS for GPUs and FPGAs. Using machine learning as our first use case, Bitfusion provides a platform for data scientists, developers, and IT managers to jumpstart innovation as well as accomplish the most effective mass deployment.

Bitfusion was founded with a vision to make at-scale heterogeneous computing accessible to any organization and build the operating system for the next generation computing. The company’s products allow data scientists, developers and IT managers to cluster, share, scale and manage compute resources to reduce the costs and complexity associated with the AI application lifecycle. Bitfusion has offices in Silicon Valley and Austin, Texas.

Michael Zimmerman

Michael has more than 25 years of experience in building new businesses, innovating new products, and disrupting technology markets with his strong leadership. Michael held a range of executive positions in both public and private companies. Until Sep-2017, Michael lead the transformation of Marvell networking to a leading position in Enterprise and Data Centers. Before Marvell, Michael was an executive for 4 years for private companies considered as industry leaders such as Annapurna Labs, who develops high-performance Smart Network Interface Card (acquired by Amazon Web Services), and Tilera, the MIT-based many-core processor company, which was acquired by Mellanox. Between 2001-2003 Michael Zimmerman worked in Radlan, an Israeli private software company, which had a production network operating system used by several Tier-1 players as a standard across their portfolio. In 2003 Marvell acquired Radlan, and Michael served in a range of management positions including Vice President and General Manager. Michael is a Stanford graduate where he attended the Executive Business Program, as well as, holds an MS in Computer Science from NSU University, an MBA from Tel Aviv University and a BS in Electrical Engineering at the Tel Aviv University, where he earned Summa Cum Laude.

Mazhar has more than 14 years of experience with computer architecture and high performance network systems. Mazhar has a breadth of experience in the semiconductor space at Intel Corporation including the design and deployment of large 1000+ node networks, architecting high performance on-die CPU networking logic, validation architect for one of Intel’s first mobile phone SoCs, and performance architect in the Intel Omnipath development team towards the successful exa-scale CORAL supercomputing bid to the DOE. Throughout his career, he has led engineering teams as well as grown an engineering organization from 0 to 35 engineers. Prior to Intel, he helped develop the DOE’s first cybersecurity centers at Sandia Labs and developed full stack, zero-knowledge network encryption methods. Mazhar holds an MS in Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, as well as a BS in Electrical engineering and a BS in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. Mazhar holds 12 patents in the areas of computer networking and virtualization.

Jeff joined Bitfusion to focus on the Market Development of Accelerated Computing virtualization with responsibility for Business Development, Ecosystem Development and Marketing. Jeff has had a multi-decade Product and General Management career at some of the Valley’s best and most innovative large and start-up companies, as a Director at Silicon Graphics, VP/GM at NVIDIA Corp, President/COO at Frame (acquired by Nutanix), and COO at Nimble Collective (acquired by AWS). His operating experience includes managing Billion dollar lines of Enterprise business spanning many vertical industries and technologies primarily focused around high performance and technical computing, professional visualization, GPU virtualization, Machine Learning, and XaaS cloud platforms. Jeff holds a BSME from the University of Texas at Austin, and MBA from Pepperdine University.
